Tiny Critters

I am literally pulling my hair out today-------------I am at battle with LICE. I feel that I am losing at this point. St. Michael.............

Four of the kids got headlice two weeks ago. I had them all cleared---no nits, no live critters, fresh pillow cases every day, hairbrushes in the dishwasher every morning (to be cleaned in hot water of 130 degrees F), etc. etc. AND, today they are back-----------like Poltergeist.

Any suggestions? I don't know what I need more----prayer or a good razor?

Oh Lisa, I have had more than enough experience with headlice (well, myu kids have) :-(

Here's what I found worked best for us over the years;

Buy a tea tree shampoo and conditioner...if you can only get one of these make sure its the conditioner. Buy a headlice comb (very fine toothed comb that won't let the suckers through).

Wash your childrens hair as usual. Towel dry their hair....smother in conditioner from root to tips. section hair and work through each section very carefully with the comb. The critters can not stay on the hair or scalp and neither can their eggs with the conditioner on it. When you have worked through the hair and removed all the eggs and nits...the eggs are worse than the nits....they attach themselves to the hair shaft and so when you think your kids hair is free because you don't see the lice, they have you fooled...if necessary go through the hair strand by strand and with your thumb and forefinger slide your them down every strand of hair removing the little 'glue' like blobs that you may see on the hair.

Also, you can use a conditioner on your kids hair overnight and wash their pillowcases in the morning too, this really helped us in the fight against headlice.

Oh yeah, and tell your kids to quit getting so close to other peoples kids!

What I found is that even when we had dealt with the prpoblem, other parents didn't do a very good job with their kids hair and mine got re-infestations :-(

Hope you can resolve this soon!

Hi Lisa! My DEEPEST sympathies! I've always been scared of headlice but have never had any experience with them -- I'll say a prayer for you and yours tonight.

Long time no "see" by the way!

God bless.

I've no clue how to get rid of them but wanted to express my "sympathies" too! I hope you get rid of them soon.

the only thing that helped my daughter was dyeing her hair - i swear it!! her hairdresser said lice love CLEAN hair that hasn't been chemically altered - no products used, gel, mousse et cetera, and that you literally have to wage war against them.

i like the conditioner idea and wish i had used that instead of hair dye, but it still worked well for molly.

...defend us in battle...
