Ha Lisa, I didn't even wake up till after 7! (usually its 5:30). Almost late to school. Drop one off at Jr. High take three to Catholic school. Set up trophy case at school. Do Morning Prayer in van with two little ones. Go to Mass. Wrestle two year old during Mass (she wasn't too bad). Come home. Dishwasher, laundry (almost constantly), Office of Readings and Day Prayer. Feed kids at 11. Put two year old down for nap and get 4 year old off to preschool. Now I am ironing UGH! I hate ironing that is why I am on the computer. We are having leftovers so I don't have to cook. Will pick kids up after school and then go to church for a Holy Hour. Come home and get kids baths and we say a Rosary (did a really bad job of that this summer, but getting better). Maybe see my husband for an hour if he doesn't have a meeting. Daughter has a volleyball game, but it is far away so I am not going to make it. Also, my son said he wants to go back to the doctor (he was there Thursday), so I may have to take him there after school, which sets everything back several hours. Life sure is busy!
All too often I don't manage to 'fit' my rosary prayers into my day, so I pray while I do the housework. Usually the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, but many more besides. I've found it beneficial to offer my works together with my prayer, in this way :)
God Bless.
My day isn't nearly as busy as yours! I woke up at 6:30. I read prayers--usually The Magnificat, but today I read a book of Catholic devotions. Made breakfast. Got kids up. We worked on school after breakfast from 8:00 to 10:00. The kids took a 30 minute break and watched a religious video and I got in the shower. At 10:30 back to school until 12:30. At 12:30 we took a break and went outside until 1:00. Dad came home for lunch from 1:00-2:00 and helped with math while all ate sandwiches. At 2:00 we dropped Dad off at work and headed to the park for P.E. Then we went to Dad's office from 3:30-4:30. During teaching times in the morning I try to do 2-3 loads of laundry and get some cleaning in--sometimes it works--sometimes not.
At 5:00 we will all go swimming in the college's indoor pool. At 6:00-6:30 we will have dinner. At 7:00 kids will read and/or finish homework/assignments. At 9:00 we pray the Rosary and then read at least one chapter of "The Chronicles of Narnia" and then we go to bed. It's easy when the kids are still small!
Hey, not that I need to say this, but it will make me feel better as my most significant vice is pride: Everyday I start my day with the Angelus and a morning offering. I do another morning offering with the kids each morning. Often I pray the Divine Chaplet at 3pm while I'm on my way to pick up kids from school. I pray throughout the day as I do my chores or my mom's taxi duties. I often read the daily Gospel, although I could/should be better about doing this. The things I need to work on, things that I used to be so dedicated to, but have let go are Daily Mass and Holy Hour (or even just a quick visit to the chapel with the kid.) I have Mass on my daily schedule for tomorrow. I'm going to try very hard to make it. I've enjoyed reading what your days are like. Like I said, my pride got the best of me and I had to let you know that I DO have a prayer life, not just mindless errands and kid-drop-offs. Love you, friends!
Wow, what a day! I know, life here also is just nuts all day long. I wake up sooo early thinking...today is the day to catch up, but before you know, it's time for bed and there's still so much to do. It would be nice for life to slow down just a tad.
