Here is what we did when we visited my relatives last week.

Is that bird.....dead.....?

wow, my kid's wouldn't know what to do if their poultry didn't come plucked, skinned and appealingly packaged!

God Bless.

Yes, it is VERY dead. I deleted the picture of the cleaning of the bird. It was very sick and about made me yack when I saw it. I knew it wouldn't be a good picture for the blog. I can't believe anyone touched that thing, either. They kept the feet for show-n-tell at school. Yeah, pretty gross.

Jeff, thanks for visiting. I went to your blog and love the pictures. Hope to see you around here again soon.

Hector, thank you! That was the perfect prayer. Maybe add one that I can stay away from the ice cream? I'd SO appreciate that! ha.

Careful there Lisa. If you focus on avoiding certain food items like ice cream, sooner or later you won't have the energy to supress and will eat lots of it. Focus more on what to eat versus what to avoid...

Well, that's just the problem....I haven't avoided them. Actually, maybe that's not a problem. I've not deleted any of my favorite foods, just eaten them in small quantities. You're right, this is the best way.

Thirteen pounds lost! Whoo! Hey! I think I found them!

That almost looks like a big pheasant (we raised them on the farm). Cleaning birds is nothing - try a deer ;)

Thanks for the pictures - they bring back good memories. I remember feeding those big round bales of hay to eager cattle in the winter and using an axe to break the ice covering the pond. Ah, those were the days!

Alexa, you've been my inspiration for so long-----don't fail me now!!!

Steve, it was so funny, the cattle knew my uncle and waited patiently for him to finish unwrapping that roll of hay. However, they didn't like having strangers near. You're correct, it was a pheasant. I don't know if I could stomach seeing a nice, little deer being cleaned. The bird was just enough.

Well, I am very impressed with 13 pounds down. And jealous. And I intend to shamelessly steal the work "yack" and use it whenever appropriate, which in a family full of germ ridden children is too often. I don't know, but your shadow looks pretty darn thin!

HA! Renee, you noticed! Yes, that is why I pointed out that shadow. I thought it looked thin, too. Believe me, I'm not-----YET!!
I vow to be one day soon, though.
