Fall Has Arrived!

Today is a very chilly day, here in northern Oklahoma. The air has changed---it feels thicker, it smells different. The leaves make a different sound in the wind. I LOVE Fall. I have a huge sugar maple that is brilliant when it changes. I'll be sure and take a snapshot when it turns.

I've been fighting a nasty upper respiratory infection since Monday. I feel like I've been sick for weeks-----first my back and knee, now my chest and head. I don't like feeling sick and I usually don't get sick, but it sure has me down. I've not seen this much green since the grass began to sprout last Spring, if you know what I mean.

I'm not looking for sympathy, I just wanted everyone to know why I have been absent from my blog. I've checked my email and responded to a dear friend's new blog, but other than that, I've not even felt like sitting at the computer.

I have my GYN appointment tomorrow---------------------WHOO HOO!!! Okay, I'm sorry to gross you out, but I'm actually EXCITED about going. I've not been for a check up of this sort since before my last baby was born and she's almost 31/2. So, it's long overdue. Now, I'm not necessarily looking forward that that cold speculum, but I AM very excited about getting a prescription for progesterone. I got my results back from my saliva test and the recommendation back from the lab in Houston, so all I have to do is get a prescription and I'll be on my way to feeling better. My progesterone level is WAY low. Normal ranges are 100-600, and mine is at 17. NO WONDER I'm a bear. I'll be back to my lovely ways very soon!!!

Whenever I get ready for an appointment like this, I remember a funny story that I heard a few years ago. I have no idea if it's true of if it is fiction, but it is funny, none the less. A woman received a telephone call from her GYN, asking if she could come to her scheduled, yearly exam now, instead of tomorrow, as the doctor had been called and would have to be out of town the next day. The woman was in the middle of cleaning the house, but didn't want to miss her appointment, as it had been scheduled several months in advance. She didn't have time to "prepare" for this type of appointment as she would have liked, but she did have time to grab the washcloth off of the bathroom counter and give herself a quick "sponge" bath before she went. She was perplexed when the doctor commented, during the exam, that it was nice of her to "dress up" for the occasion. She had no idea what he meant until she was home. She had to use the bathroom and noticed that her undies were full of glitter. She had inadvertantly grabbed the washcloth that her daughter had used the night before to clean up her craft/glitter mess. The doctor thought this was just for him!! hahahahahahaha.

Be assured, I'll remember this and use CLEAN linens when I "prepare" for my appointment!

I've heard that one, except it was glitter hairspray instead of the feminine deodorant spray she meant to grab.

Can't imagine looking forward to the gyn, but I'm happy for you.

I love fall too, but it is much more subtle here.It comes gradually, litle by little. One day you notice it's not hot at 5:00 AM anymore, and the gradually it get cool, then cold. I like that, but I think Autumn in Chicago was really nice when I lived up there. It was only for 8 months, and I missed Charleston (where I'd been living before) way too much, but it was still pretty cool.
