God's Creatures
Yesterday there was a big thunderstorm here. My family and I were at the soccer field when it hit. As we returned home, we noticed that there was a little bird that had fallen out of the tree. It's nest was torn up, laying next to it. Of course, the kids wanted to rescue it. They were too scared, so I had to be the hero. Gag!
Today in religious education class, we taught the kids about St. Francis. I thought taking the bird would be perfect to go along with today's lesson. PLUS, we had already planned to make bird feeders using pinecones, peanut butter, and bird seed----great timing!
As we had the kids outside making their birdfeeders, the bird crawled out of the towel I had it in and went under a big pine tree. They all witnessed this and thought it was really "cool." I really thought it wonderful to have a live visual to enhance today's lesson. The bird picked that time to wonder away. It had been in the towel for almost 24 hours and hadn't moved.
God is so good.
