First Time Cooks

Kristyn and her friend asked to make cookies tonight-----all by themselves. They are ages 9 and 10, so I agreed. I was so pleased and surprised when I saw the finished product---aren't they beautiful? I couldn't wait to try one, and just as quickly, I couldn't wait to spit it out as they confused 1/4 tsp. salt for 1/4 cup salt.
G-A-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Karyn lost another tooth tonight. It was very dramatic---crying, tears, the whole bit. Now she's thrilled, as I knew she would be.

TGIF

Hi! I think I'll begin my post with a funny I heard this morning:

When the husband finally died his wife put the usual death notice in the paper, but added that he died of gonorrhea. No sooner were the papers delivered when a friend of the family phoned and complained bitterly, "You know very well that he died of diarrhea, not gonorrhea." Replied the widow, "I nursed him night and day so, of course, I know he died of diarrhea, but I thought it would be better for posterity to remember him as a great lover rather than the big turd he always was."

I have a lot to do today, but I'm having trouble getting motivated. I didn't sleep well last night. I fell asleep on the couch and Hubby didn't wake me up when he went to bed---or maybe he tried and I don't remember. I woke up at about 2:30am and went to bed. Then about an hour after, I woke up to Kathryn beside me and my back hurting, so I sat in the recliner in my room to sleep. I woke up later with Paul and the dog in my lap. I moved Paul to my bed and I tried to lay back down, but with four people in one bed, one cannot sleep very well. I woke up at 4:30am and went downstairs and watched the happenings with Hurricane Rita and finally fell asleep just to be awakened by Hubby coming downstairs on his way out to work at 5:15am. I did go back to sleep, but only for a short time when Philip woke up to get ready for band, which I took him to at 6:40am. SOOO---this is my excuse for not hopping right up and starting the daily duties. I'm way too old for a night like that. I think this is why God makes it harder for women of my age to get pregnant---our bodies are too old and used to be getting up every hour with a babe. Only a few select are chosen.

How is everyone? I haven't posted for five days. I kind of lost that addictive feeling for wanting to be on the computer. I think this is a good thing, but I do "miss" the people that comment here and whose blogs I read. Actually, it's probably not losing the want to be on the computer, I'm just so darned busy.

Have a great weekend!!

Just Hangin' Around on a Sunday Evening

Do you know how fast I had to snap this photo before someone fell off the branch? The kids, Hubby, and I were spending time outside this evening playing in the nice, soft dirt that was just tilled. How did you spend your Sunday?

You Scream, I Scream, We all Scream

Last night was the "Birthday Party" for the city. Our city is 112 years old. It was from 6-8pm, come and go. They were serving hotdogs, cake, and ice cream. All free to the public along with music from a few local bands. We arrived at 6:40pm. The cake and ice cream were gone and the hotdogs were getting very low. I guess they didn't expect as many people as showed up. The kids were pretty disappointed as they'd been bribed to go with the expectation of cake and ice cream, so we left and went to Braums. I shared a banana-split with my oldest daughter. NOT on my diet, this I know, but it was SO good. Kathryn decided that it would be fun to lick the window, so I took the opportunity to go outside and snap her picture as she did so. Yes, I did make a spectacle of myself, but HEY, I thought it blogworthy, so I didn't mind that people were watching and thinking that I'd lost my mind, "Okay Kathryn, lick it again, that first picture didn't turn out." "Okay, one more time, lick the window again, no not by that snotty smudge the little boy made before we got here, over there to the right." Oh, the joys of my digital camera!!!!!!!!!!

Great Day for Soccer

It was SO hot at the soccer field today. Philip, big kid in orange hat, is the coach for Paul's team. Paul is the second from the left. He and his team mate are laughing at a piece of trash blowing by. This was the little boys' first game. They are all four years old. Karyn is in the maroon. She scored six goals today. Her team won 17-2. Besides it being so warm, it was a fun day.

Now the kids are all at Grandma's, in the swimming pool. Hubby is snoring on the couch---too much cheering for him at the soccer field, I guess.
