Epiphany

Tonight my family and I hosted First Friday Rosary and an Epiphany celebration.
We saw that the wise men had made it to the stable to see Baby Jesus. We had a small teaching on the three gifts, Gold, Frankensense, and Myrrh. We prayed the Rosary. Then, we had King Cake. The three children, who found the bean in their piece of cake, were crowned Kings for the evening. Two of my daughters were Balhazar and Melchior, and a friend's son was Caspar.

Suzanne, my blogger friend turned real-life friend, was here with her family. Another couple was here, also. These people are SO knowledgable about the Catholic Church. Honestly, I just sit there and listen and learn, in awe. I feel like I should give some input into the conversation, but I rarely have the chance, nor the smarts to do so. Lucky me for great friends like these!

Saint Day

Today is the Feast of St. Genevieve, my daughter's saint day.
My Kathryn Genevieve, may you grow with the strength of St. Genevieve. Her dedication to God, her purity, and her simple mortifications made her a beautiful woman. You, too, will one day be a beautiful woman, body and soul.

Daily Goals

Instead of making "New Year" resolutions, I'm making daily resolutions. Here are today's goals:
1. Read today's Gospel -done
2. Clean all three bathrooms-done
3. Do six loads of laundry. -will be done, plus two more, I think.
4. Stay within my range of 26-28 points on my diet. -I may have gone over. I had 9 points to spare, then decided on Chinese food for supper. MAY HAVE??? How about DID!!
5. Do some form of exercise. -still working on this one
6. Get to Mass-Well, I was on my way, with four of the kids, and found out the schedule had been changed and it took place at another location at a different time today. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

What I'd LOVE to have is some type of sidebar area to post daily goals. This would be a lot less boring for those who don't really care. I really don't want to make regular posts on this, just something that can been seen to the side. This will help keep me honest. BUT...............................I'll need help from someone to do this. Alexa??? Scott??? Are either of you up for the challenge?

Okay, I'm off to accomplish my goals for the day.

Spa Day

Today the older girls--ages 12, 9, and 7, and I had a spa day. Hubby took the boys and the youngest girl on errands to give us time to do this. First we did pedicures and manicures. Then we did hot stone massages. The house smells great--like eucalyptus and spearmint. Finally, we finished with a hot paraffin wax on the feet and hands. Ahhhh, the joys of having girls in the house!

THIS is why I'm so tired............

This Christmas break has been full of family and fun. My sister-in-law was here with her four children for three days. During the visit, her 9-year-old son celebrated his birthday. This was a great time and all 14 grandchildren were here at one time. It was a great photo opportunity. I snapped their picture on the front living room couch.

Friday, Hubby, my oldest son, and my father-in-law traveled to Dallas, TX, to pick up Hubby's brother. We've enjoyed seeing him. He was here for the New Year celebration.

Today, my aunt and uncle from Wichita, KS, came for the afternoon.

Needless to say, my house has stayed clean for the past 10 days because I've always been expecting company! I actually thought my laundry was caught up, too, until I couldn't find a certain piece of clothing. Sadly, I found the laundry shoot completely full. Oh well. Life is good!
